MCS Therapy employs speech language pathologists, speech language pathologist assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapist assistants, physical therapists, physical therapist assistances, counselors, and psychologists. From time to time, we may be joined by other such professional licensed persons as we deem appropriate to further our mission statement and expand our range of services.
Speech Language Pathologists
SLP is the designation of those clinically licensed individuals who assess, evaluate, train, and treat individuals to maintain or improve their participation in speech, language, communication, swallowing and feeding to support healthy functioning to the best of their abilities. Speech language pathology assistants work under the supervision of SLPs. They work toward the goals of developing objectives that are identified in Individual Support Plans (ISPs). Either clinician can work in a clinic or at the home of the individual. SLPs hold a master’s degree in science while SLPAs hold a bachelor’s degree.
Occupational Therapists
OTs are those licensed individuals who assess functioning in an individual and focus treatment on those skills of fine motor and the associated tasks of daily living. Focus is on modifying the environment, aiding an individual in working within an environment to meet the needs of daily living. It is a strength based profession. The clinician can work at a clinic or at a home. Typically an OTR holds a master’s degree while an COTA holds a certification or bachelor’s degree.
Physical Therapists
PTs are licensed clinicians who assess, evaluate, train, and treat individuals in the tasks of daily living that are most associated with gross motor skills. Focus is often on remediation and rehabilitation but with the objective of assisting in movement and mobility, quality of life. PT can be done at a clinic or in a home.
Psychologists
Psychologists are licensed individuals whose scope of practice includes the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health. They can hold a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree. From time to time, as appropriate interns and/or post – doctoral students may be included in the clinic.
